Introduction

UYWNI ("UYWNI," "we," "our," or "us") operates the UYWNI mobile applications (iOS and Android), the web app, and the website at uywni.com (together, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, the choices you have, and how to contact us. By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to this Policy and our Terms & Conditions.

Controller / operator contact for privacy requests: privacy@uywni.com.

1. What UYWNI Is

UYWNI is a social and professional platform. Features include:

  • Public feed posts, comments, likes, reposts, and media (photos/videos)
  • Stories and short-form video (Play / Reels)
  • Profiles, follows, search / Discover, and World News (third-party articles shown in-app)
  • Direct messaging, voice messages, media sharing, and voice/video calls
  • Job Marketplace (listings and applications)
  • Optional paid verification / subscription features (in-app purchases where available)
  • Push notifications for messages, calls, and social activity

2. Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

  • Account data: email address, username, display name, and password (or equivalent authentication credentials via Firebase Authentication).
  • Profile data (optional): bio, profile photo, banner, website, location text, and similar profile fields.
  • Professional / Jobs data: resumes, work history, credentials, and job applications you submit.
  • User content: posts, comments, stories, videos, job listings, reports, and other content you create or upload.
  • Communications: messages and media you send in chats; support emails you send to us.
  • Purchase data: if you buy a subscription or verification product, we receive purchase status and transaction identifiers from Apple App Store or Google Play (we do not receive your full payment card number).

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device & technical data: device type, OS version, app version, language, IP address, push notification tokens (FCM/APNs), and similar diagnostics needed to run the app.
  • Usage data: features used, content interactions (e.g., views, likes, applications), crash/performance logs, and approximate connection information.
  • Local storage: preferences and caches stored on your device (e.g., session/settings via local storage such as Hive/SharedPreferences).

C. Information from permissions (only when you allow)

On mobile devices we request access only when needed for a feature you use:

PermissionWhen / why
CameraProfile photos, stories, posts, and video calls
MicrophoneVoice messages and audio/video calls
Photo libraryUpload or share images/videos; save media you choose to download
Location (when in use)Only if you choose to share a location in chat
NotificationsMessages, calls, likes, replies, and similar alerts

You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Doing so may limit related features.

D. Messaging, calls, and encryption

  • Direct messages and chat media are protected with industry-standard encryption so conversation content is intended only for participants.
  • We process message metadata needed to operate chat (for example: sender/recipient IDs, timestamps, delivery/read status, conversation IDs, and push notification routing).
  • Voice and video calls use real-time communication technology (WebRTC). Call signaling and connection data are processed to connect participants; media streams are transmitted for the duration of the call.
  • If you lose access to your device or keys, some encrypted chat history may not be recoverable by UYWNI.

E. Third-party content (World News / Discover)

World News and similar Discover content may load articles or previews from third-party publishers. Those publishers have their own privacy practices. We do not sell your personal information to news publishers.

3. How We Use Information

  • Job posters / applicants: if you apply for a job, your application materials are shared with the poster of that job.
  • Service providers: we use trusted processors to host and operate the Services, including Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging) and Apple/Google for app distribution and in-app purchases. They process data under their terms and applicable data processing terms.
  • Legal / safety: we may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users or UYWNI.

8. International Transfers & Security

We use cloud infrastructure that may process data in the United States and other countries (including via Google Firebase). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information (encryption in transit via HTTPS/TLS, access controls, and encrypted messaging features). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Apple App Privacy / App Store disclosures

On the App Store product page, Apple requires "App Privacy" labels. Those labels summarize data that may be collected as described in this Policy, including (depending on features you use): Contact Info, User Content, Identifiers, Usage Data, Diagnostics, Location (if you share it), and Purchases. Data is used to provide the product features you request, for account management, and for security/fraud prevention. We do not use your personal data for tracking across other companies' apps and websites for advertising under Apple's tracking definition.
